Assume Form -
I have been enjoying James Blake's latest album, Assume Form, quite a lot. It inspired me to create an alternate vinyl cover design.
The idea behind this design is based on the concept of a mobile (not the cell phone, but the hanging sculpture). A mobile that moves is in the process of assuming it's own form; just a gentle touch or a little wind will deform the final form of a mobile. Fascinated by this metaphor I decided to make a front and back cover that are equally important; making the process of assuming a form just as important as the final form itself.
Finding the right form for the type itself was quite a challenge; but after quite some sketches and tests it was clear that very simple and geometric shapes worked best.
